Jimmy Winkfield Stakes winner is Go Go Shoot!
Go Go Shoot achieved a mild upset in the six-furlong Jimmy Winkfield Stakes at Aqueduct racecourse by defeating the favorite Law N Dora by 3½ lengths in 1:10.
The three-year-old Go Go Shoot, owned by former Duke University basketball star Bobby Hurley, improved his record to 2-for-3, putting a forgetful effort in the December 12 th Capote Stakes behind him.
"At the top of the stretch, I had a lot of horse left," said winning jockey Alan Garcia. "He warmed up perfect, broke perfect and ran perfect."
Law N Dora came in second while Accredit placed third.
The Jimmy Winkfield Stakes was named for perhaps the best African American jockey of all time. It was the feature of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day card.
Aqueduct will be dark Tuesday and Wednesday this week with live racing returning Thursday.
