Tizdejavu looking good for American Derby
Tizdejavu is setting his sights on the Grade IIT, $250,000 American Derby at Arlington Park racecourse on July 12.
Tisdejavu is the 2-1 morning line favorite in the Arlington Park racecourse event. Jockey Rene Douglas, leading rider at Arlington Park racecourse, will be astride Tisdejavu in the American Derby.
The American Derby is a graded stakes component of Arlington Park racecourse's Million Preview Day, the others being the $200,000 Arlington Handicap and the $150,000 Modesty Handicap for fillies and mares.
The 1 3/16-mile turf event is the second leg of the Mid-America Triple that began with the Arlington Classic on May 24 and concludes with the $400,000 Secretariat Stakes on Aug. 9.
Tizdejavu is a son of two-time Breeders' Cup Classic champion Tiznow. Tisdejavu won wire-to-wire in the Crown Royal American Turf on May 2, then registered a four-length win in the Grade IIT, Jefferson Cup Stakes.
Tisdejavu is expected to encounter stiff competition from Great War Eagle, runner-up in the group III Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown in Ireland in his last start. Great War Eagle will be making his debut in North America ridden by jockey Jose Valdivia Jr.
The other contenders in the American Derby are: Prime Realestate, Amazing Results, Blue Exit, Sr. Henry, Ablaze With Spirit, and Boss Lafitte. |
