Student Council all set for Hollywood Gold Cup!
Student Council, a grade I winner for Millennium Farms on dirt and synthetic surfaces, is poised to run in the Grade I, $750,000 Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I) at Hollywood Park racecourse.
The 1¼-mile Hollywood Gold Cup is set for June 28.
Student Council will be under the direction of jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, who also rode aboard Student Council in his winning run at the Pimlico Special. Other races won by Student Council are the Grade I Pacific Classic and the Grade II Hawthorne Gold Cup.
Ro Parra, owner of Millennium Farms, said the considerations for Student Council to run at Hollywood Park racecourse were the load and the purse size. "It came down to the weights and the higher purse. Perhaps it will be 'third time's the charm" for us, as we've been third in the Gold Cup twice and we think we can win it this year with Student Council.", Parra said.
Student Council has been assigned 117 pounds for the Hollywood Gold Cup.
Millennium Farms' Even The Score was third as the favorite in 2004, and the farm was third again in 2006 when Super Frolic was beaten three-quarters of a length by Lava Man.
Student Council will be coming to Hollywood Park racecourse from Churchill Downs racecourse on June 23.
Student Council has earnings of more than $1.3 million from eight wins out of 27 starts on both dirt and synthetic racecourses. |
