Jersey Shore Stakes to be headlined by J Be K at Monmouth!
J Be K is looking forward to capturing the Grade III, $150,000 Jersey Shore Stakes on the 4th of July at Monmouth Park racecourse. The Jersey Shore Stakes is a six-furlong sprint on the dirt. J Be K is coming off a 5½-length victory in the Grade II Woody Stephens Stakes on June 7.
J Be K will be facing five other contenders in the Jersey Shore Stakes and should he win, this will be his third graded stakes victory. Jockey Stewart Elliot will be astride J Be K for the Jersey Shore Stakes.
J Be K has so far been unbeaten in four career starts at distances of less than 1 mile. He will carry a top weight of 123 pounds in his 4 th of July run at Monmouth Park racecourse.
In all his past triumphs, the Steve Asmussen-trained, J Be K has practically scored gate-to-wire. He broke his maiden last summer at Saratoga racecourse and set the course record for 5½ furlongs at 1:03.13.
J Be K has already worked twice since his victory in the Woody Stephens Stakes, both times at Belmont Park racecourse. The latest breeze was four furlongs in :50.12 on June 30.
Expected to give J Be K stiff competition at Monmouth Park racecourse on Friday are Silver Edition, runner-up in the Woody Stephens Stakes, and Indy Joe, who managed a one-length victory in the six-furlong Rumson Stakes on May 31, also at Monmouth Park racecourse. |
