Frosty plans hinge heavily on Doomben race!
If Grafton Guineas winner Frosty lands his fourth straight victory at Doomben Racecourse on Saturday, then trainer Brian Wakefield could be in for a rethink of a possible spring campaign in Sydney.
Wakefield had earlier pondered on letting four-year-old Frosty run at Canterbury Racecourse on Saturday but decided on taking part in a Class Six Plate over 1,615 metres at Doomben Racecourse instead.
"He's pulled up well since winning the Grafton Guineas and taking him to Sydney isn't a problem as he likes traveling. I thought about running him this weekend in Sydney but I thought he'd get too much weight so he'll run at Doomben instead." Wakefield said.
Wakefield is thinking of a spring campaign for Frosty but he admits a lot will depend on his performance at Doomben Racecourse.
"There's a lot on offer for him in the spring and if he wins on Saturday then I'll be tempted to take him away," he said. Wakefield has mentioned that he's already explored the stabling arrangement possibilities in Rosehill Racecourse and Warwick Farm Racecourse.
"The main reason I've looked at taking him to Sydney lately is because he's a BOBS horse and he's been running out of time to win some BOBS prize money this season."
Wakefield sent Frosty to Sydney as a two-year-old but his performance did not quite measure up to par. |
