Eleda wins Central Cleaning Supplies Handicap!
Eleda captured the Central Cleaning Supplies Handicap at Eagle Farm Racecourse. She thus got a much-needed shot at the lucrative fillies and mares spring races in Queensland.
Eleda was apparently too much for her most strident opponent Lady Red to win by a nose in the 1,400-metre Eagle Farm Racecourse contest.
Bryan Guy, who claimed Brisbane 's training honours for the first time two seasons ago, came to Eagle Farm Racecourse with six runners on the seven-event card and was confident of winning five races.
"But I won with two, had a second and two thirds and the other earned a prizemoney cheque by finishing fourth so I'm still happy."
Eleda was Guy's best performer and will now be set for the first of Queensland Racing Limited's series of $100,000 fillies and mares races which begin at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday.
Eleda, a four-year-old daughter of Deputy Governor who was bred by Cherry, had her first four starts in New Zealand before she joined Guy's stables.
Jockey Ric McMahon rode the bulk of Guy's runners but the trainer's former apprentice Dean Tanti kept his successful association going aboard Eleda who he has ridden in her four victories this campaign. |
