Scenica debuts at Eagle Farm on Saturday!
Scenica, a promising mare from Argentina, will be making her debut in Australia for Starcraft's owner Paul Makin and Gold Coast trainer Brian Gentle at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday.
Scenica was bought by Makin after she had an impressive five-length victory in the 1,500-metre Atucha Stakes, a Group One race on a heavy track in Argentina in May last year.
Gentle, who was foreman for top Sydney trainer John O'Shea for almost three years before he moved to Queensland 18 months ago, planned to start Scenica at Doomben Racecourse last month but a high temperature forced him to delay her Australian debut.
Gentle thinks that assessing her chances in a $100,000 fillies and mares race over 1,200 metres is the best way to go.
Aside from her Group One win, Scenica won her only other start over 1,000 metres four months earlier.
Scenica finished fourth to Grafton Guineas winner Frosty in her first Australian barrier trial over 1,060 metres at Doomben Racecourse in April then came in third in a similar trial at Doomben Racecourse in July before winning an 1100-metre barrier trial at Eagle Farm Racecourse last month. |
