Periduki won't see action in Flemington just yet!
Alice Springs trainer Lisa Lefoe is not bringing her sprinting sensation Periduki to Flemington Racecourse this weekend. Lefoe had earlier nominated the three-year-old Periduki to two races at Flemington Racecourse.
Periduki has so far won nine of his 13 career starts, including a 1½-length triumph over Lord Braemar in a Morphettville Flying (1,050m) last Saturday.
Lefoe entered Periduki for the A R Creswick Stakes (1,200m) for three-year-olds and the Geoffrey Levett Handicap (1,200m) for open sprinters.
However, she decided the time wasn't right to head to Flemington Racecourse and she will instead set Periduki for the $100,000 Palmerston Sprint (1200m) in Darwin on August 2.
A $6,000 yearling purchase, Periduki was unbeaten in six starts as a two-year-old at Alice Springs .
However, Periduki got an infected cracked hoof that caused him to lose form earlier this season.
However, Periduki recovered from those setbacks and has won at his past three outings including the $50,000 Pioneer Sprint (1200m) at Alice Springs on May 3 before venturing 1,600km to Morphettville Racecourse.
With a handicapping rating of 91, Periduki will be topweight for the Creswick.
The next highest with ratings of 89 are in-form fillies Beaming and Gold Chant.
Other nominations include the David Hayes-trained Red Element, who is chasing his fourth straight win having scored at Kyneton and twice at Moonee Valley Racecourse.
Gold Chant, prepared by Peter Moody, is a last-start 1,000m winner at Sandown Racecourse over Allervite and Cent To Rome. |
