Jockey Kerrin McEvoy to ride The Flame in San Domenico Stakes!
Jockey Kerrin McEvoy will be astride The Flame when he makes his return to the Sydney stakes racing scene in the San Domenico Stakes on Saturday at Rosehill Racecourse.
McEvoy is the stable jockey for Darley Stud, and just recently came back to the local scene from a successful overseas stint when he rode for Godolphin thoroughbred racing
McEvoy was earlier expected to ride Altitude for trainer Peter Snowden but he said that Altitude would not run in the 1,100-metre feature.
Altitude's withdrawal paves the way McEvoy to ride Darley-owned The Flame in the San Domenico Stakes.
McEvoy said: "I'll be riding The Flame, I haven't seen his trials but I've heard he goes all right. You always know that Gai will have the horse ready to go, so I'm looking forward to it."
The Flame has been given three barrier trials and was triumphant at his last outing over 900 metres at Rosehill Racecourse last month with the suspended Nash Rawiller on board.
McEvoy returned to local riding at Kembla Grange where his best finish from five races was a second aboard Movin' Out in the 1,300-metre Markey Saddlery Maiden Plate.
McEvoy won the 2000 Melbourne Cup aboard Brew. |
