Ibn Khaldun to see action in Epsom Derby!
Ibn Khaldun will be one of Godolphin's entry in the Epsom Derby on June 7 at Epsom Downs racecourse. This was revealed by trainer Saeed bin Suroor.
After failing miserably in the 2,000 Guineas, Ibn Khaldun had a spectacular workout at Newmarket Racecourse yesterday morning. It thus signalled Ibn Khaldun's determination to redeem himself in the Epsom Derby.
Ibn Khaldun is entered in next Saturday's Boylesports Irish 2000 Guineas and it was thought the Curragh showpiece was the preferred target after his disappointing run in the Newmarket equivalent.
But now, Ibn Khaldun seems set to lead the Godolphin challenge for the Epsom Derby after impressing in a seven-furlong spin on the Limekilns.
Godolphin will also be fielding Rio De La Plata and Fast Company in the Epsom Derby.
Tartan Bearer and 2,000 Guineas winner Henrythenavigator are expected to pose the stiffest challenges to Ibn Khaldun. |
