Fakenham Racecourse Facilities

Fakenham Racecourse has three enclosures:

  • The Members Enclosure includes the the Prince of Wales Stand which offers spectacular views over the entire racecourse and grounds. This facility has three luxury Private Boxes each with a capacity for 20 guests.
  • The Grandstand and Paddock have dining and viewing facilities.
  • The Course Enclosure offers access to a small grandstand and the centre of the racecourse.


Fakenham Racecourse History

  • In 1905, the first meeting at Fakenham Racecourse attracted 37 runners.
  • In 1926, a hurdle race was introduced at Fakenham Racecourse as the steeplechase races had dwindled in numbers.
  • Racing at Fakenham Racecourse was suspended in 1935 to 1945 due to World War II. Racing resumed in 1947.
  • In 1953, Fakenham Racecourse's original Grandstand was built.
  • In 1965, the Fakenham Racecourse Ltd, was formed to continue to qualify for Levy Board support and fundamental to surviving the threat of closure. Annual fixtures increased from two to five.
  • In 2000, the Queen handed over Royal patronage of Fakenham Racecourse to The Prince of Wales. In that same year, the Queen Mother made a visit to Fakenham Racecourse.
  • In 2002, the Members Stand was renamed "The Prince of Wales Stand".
