Idle Power loses at Idle Power Stakes at Goodwood!
Idle Power was not victorious in the race named after him at Goodwood Racecourse. Instead, he finished fifth in the Idle Power Stakes but not after being given a round of applause by the spectators as he went to post at the beginning.
The Goodwood Racecourse extravaganza was dominated by trainer Rod Millman as Phantom Whisper, under Daryl Holland, defeated stablemate Brassini by a neck.
"It's a shame one had to be second but it's lovely both have run well," said Millman.
"Phantom has been quite highly tried but we've dropped him down in grade. I don't know what we'll do with him but Brassini will have to run again before he's re-handicapped."
Meanwhile, Idle Power's trainer Jim Boyle had already won the Ken Wilkie Birthday Handicap when his 5-1 favourite The Fifth Member was a 3¼-length victor.
"He's so consistent in his conditions and is a solid, progressive horse who rarely finished out of the first three," said Boyle of The Fifth Member.
Boyle had already considered retirement for Idle Power but now says he will keep the 10-year-old going for the moment. |
