Haydock Park Racecourse Description

  • The Haydock Park Flat Course is a mostly flat left-handed galloping oval of around 1 mile 5 furlongs. It has a very slight rise on the 4½ furlong run-in.
  • The Haydock Park National Hunt Course is left-handed, flat and galloping. The circuit measures 1 mile and 5 furlongs, with drop fences and a long run-in on the chase course.

Haydock Park Racecourse History

  • Haydock Park Racecourse is a successor to the legendary Old Holborne Heath course, which was home to the Newton Races that had their heydays in the 1750s.

  • In 1898, racing at the old racecourse ended and 127 acres of land was leased for the construction of Haydock Park Racecourse.

  • In 1899, the horse racing commenced at Haydock Park Racecourse.
