Wolverhampton Racecourse: Enjoy Horse Racing Basked in Light!
Wolverhampton Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racecourse located in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. Wolverhampton is the first and only floodlit racecourse in the UK.
Wolverhampton Racecourse provides both evening and afternoon racing throughout the year on the all-weather Flat racecourse. Wolverhampton Racecourse typically holds about 100 or more racedays per year.
Wolverhampton Racecourse Description
Wolverhampton Racecourse measures one mile (1,609 m) in circumference, with left-hand turns. This feature gives Wolverhampton Racecourse a greater degree of commonality with its counterparts in the United States.
Wolverhampton Racecourse has the artificial Polytrack surface and has encouraged a different style of racing when compared to racing on the old Fibresand track. The Polytrack is still not as tight and compact as it eventually will be, but horses have been willing to run on the light and nifty surface.
Whilst the early fractions of races ran at Wolverhampton Racecourse up to 1 mile are generally too fast, many races over staying trips have become tactical, so those needing a true test of stamina can come unstuck.
Wolverhampton Racecourse's surface seem to favour horses with a strong closing kick. Sprinters have been known to struggle to the finish. Wolverhampton Racecourse generally suits those horses with form beyond the trip they are racing over.
